The company Wilh. Schlechtendahl & Söhne (WSS) faced the challenge of economically producing complex door hardware in a confined space. The decision was made to use a DMG Mori Milltap 700 compact machining centre, which was retrofitted with a two-axis pL LEHMANN T3-507510.LR indexing drive.
The result was a significant boost in productivity: three different components can be fully machined simultaneously on the three spindles of the rotary table using five-axis machining. Previously, these parts had to be manufactured in two or three separate setups, which not only cost time but also increased the risk of setup errors. The compact design of the pL LEHMANN axes allowed for optimal use of the machine's limited X-axis travel (700 mm). Today, WSS manufactures component families in a fraction of the time and with a precision that meets the high demands of international steel and glass construction.
