Why would the machine salesperson recommend a 5-axis machine over a vertical machining centre with an add-on 4th or 4th/5th axis?

The machine salesperson is usually driven by commission. Therefore, understandably, their primary focus is not on the optimal solution for the customer. The 5-axis machine makes selling easier and their wallet thicker.

How can I sensibly automate 5-axis workpieces?

With our rotary tables, there is a very wide range of clamping options available. We can offer both raw part handling and pallet handling, with the TOP variant being a combination of the two. This allows for chaotic production even in the smallest of spaces.

Can a 4th axis also be loaded automatically by a robot?

Yes, at pL LEHMANN, all necessary options for fully automated operation are available. From rotary joints to clamping cylinders and automatic chucks, everything is available as standard.

What options do I have for procuring a pL LEHMANN rotary axis?

pL LEHMANN offers consultation directly with the end customer to understand the actual processing and framework conditions. The corresponding design is then developed, allowing for a direct purchase from pL LEHMANN by the end customer. When purchasing a new or used machine, delivery can also be made directly to the machine supplier. Purchasing a pL LEHMANN rotary axis directly through your machine supplier is also possible. Warranty and support are guaranteed in both cases. pL LEHMANN even offers its end customers a hire-purchase option.

Are there compact, lightweight rotary axes for machining large aluminium parts on small, fast machining centres – also suitable for mass production?

pL LEHMANN has the right answer here, with the TOP series Big Size rotary tables. Furthermore, the rotary tables can be equipped with an automatic pallet changer and fitted with a handling system for autonomous manufacturing 24/7 – depending on the equipment of the manufacturing solution, the investment can be amortised in a short time.

What should I look out for when buying an offset rotary table (rotary axis)?

Speed (short cycle times) should at least match the machine speed. With an accurate and stable rotary table, I can significantly upgrade a relatively inexpensive mid-range machine. Finally, by using a compact rotary table with a smaller machine, I can produce workpieces of the same size.
